Extend the lifespan of your gloves
𧀠Goalkeeper Glove Care Guide: How to Keep Latex Alive
Proper maintenance is key to extending the life of your gloves and maintaining the best possible grip. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, these tips will save your gear and your money.
1. Wash your gloves after
every use đ§Œ
Dirt and sweat are latex's worst enemies.
Moisten: Use lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, as it damages the material.
Wash: Apply glove wash to the palms and fingers. Gently rub with your fingers â do not use a brush!
Rinse: Carefully remove all detergent.
Dry properly: Hang gloves at room temperature with palms facing down.
Never place gloves on a radiator, in a tumble dryer, or in direct sunlight, as these will make the latex brittle.
Â
2. Handle with care: Put on and take off correctly âš
When putting on: Slowly slide your hand into place. Do not force it to avoid tearing seams.
When taking off: Unfasten the wrist strap and carefully pull the glove off from the palm side. Do not pull from the fingertips.
Â
3. Technique is key: Avoid landing on your palms đĄïž
Most glove wear occurs when getting up from the ground or landing.
Getting up: Use your fists or knuckles to help you get up from the ground. Do not press your open palm against the ground.
Landing: Try to absorb the impact with your forearm or the side of the glove, especially on artificial turf, which wears down latex very quickly.
Â
4. Revitalize worn gloves with grip spray đŠ
When the latex starts to wear out, grip spray gives it extra life.
Spray a thin layer directly onto the palms before a game and clap your gloves together to activate the product.
Â
5. Don't leave them at the bottom of your bag! đ
Always store your gloves in a clean glove bag.
Make sure the gloves are completely dry before long-term storage to prevent mold.
Keep your grip like new! Remember to get proper detergent and grip spray to go with your gloves.
